Peter Selb is full professor of Survey Research at the Department of Politics and Public administration at the University of Konstanz since 2011. He is a Principal Investigator of the Centre for Human | Data | Society since 2022. In 1997 he received a master’s degree in Political Science, Media and Communication Sciences, Contemporary History, Economic and Social History at the University of Mannheim, followed by the doctorate in 2002 at the University of Zürich (Switzerland) (thesis: Agenda-setting processes during an election campaign). He had been Head of the Swiss Electoral Studies (Selects), at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Zürich until 2007, before moving to the University of Konstanz as assistant, substitute and later full professor. He is Principal Investigator of the Cluster of Excellence “Politics of Inequality”. Currently, he is Director of the interdisciplinary MSc. Program in Social and Economic Data Science (SEDS) and a member of the coordination team of the Advanced Data and Information Literacy Track (ADILT) at the University of Konstanz. Peter Selb has expert knowledge in survey methodology, causal inference, and statistical modelling. His research covers topics in political behavior and public opinion, often with a methodological focus. He investigates especially web-based surveys, polling errors and develops statistical models to make the most out of sparse survey data
