Sven Reichardt is full professor of Contemporary History at the University of Konstanz since 2011. He is a member of the Centre for Human | Data | Society since 2022. In 1995 he received his master’s degree in History, Political Science and Psychology at the Free University Berlin, followed by the doctorate in 2000 at the Free University Berlin with a prize-winning dissertation on „fascist fighting corps in Italy and Germany“ (with distinction). He worked at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin from 2001 to 2003 in the working group „civil society“. He moved in 2003 to the University of Konstanz first as assistant professor (Juniorprofessor) and since 2011 as full professor. He was a Principal Investigator of the Cluster of Excellence “Cultural Foundations of Integration”. Currently, he holds the Chair for Contemporary History University of Konstanz and is executive director of the renowned and prestigious journal „Geschichte und Gesellschaft“. He was guest professor at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin, the New School for Social Sciences (New York) and Columbia University (also New York). Sven Reichardts research covers topics like the history of public opinion and survey data as well as the cultural history of surveillance. He is specialized in social history, social movements, techniques of dictatorial surveillance as well as quantitative and statistical methods.
