The University of Konstanz is committed to a discrimination-free learning and working environment for all its members. Students and employees alike should be enabled to participate equally in everyday study and working life, regardless of personal and social characteristics such as age, gender, skin colour, physical or health abilities, their life and family models, their ethnic, national, social or economic backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations*.
(* Ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age and sexual identity are generally referred to as core dimensions of diversity (Diversity Charter 2018). These are also mentioned in the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) as discrimination grounds particularly worthy of protection).
To implement this goal, the university not only takes measures that address the structures of the organisation, but also offers, where necessary, individual support services that focus on the above-mentioned diversity dimensions. In addition, events are regularly organised to provide information on diversity dimensions and to raise awareness of diversity at the university.
The importance of the dimension of age for a diversity-friendly university
"The Importance of the Dimension of Age for a Diversity-Fair University" (DIBA) is the title of the project of the University of Zurich, the HTWG Konstanz and the University of Konstanz. It was funded by the International Lake Constance University IBH.
