4. Legal basis
We process your data based on your consent as per Article 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
5. Purpose and scope of data processing
When participating in German courses, participants are assigned to German classes that are as homogeneous as possible.
It is therefore important to know how many international students are interested in taking German courses in the semester for the recruitment of German teachers.
This data is read and processed by members of the International Office and the Language Institute (SLI) to ensure that all international students who wish to take a German course in the semester can be assigned to an appropriate German class and that sufficient German courses are offered at the Language Institute.
6. Consequences of not providing data
If you do not give your consent, you will not be able to participate in all German courses of the Language Institute of the University of Konstanz during the semester. You will not suffer any further disadvantages.
7. Using cookies
When visiting a page, the browser saves a so-called session cookie on the respective end device after the one-time authentication process for protected areas. This is deleted as soon as the browser is closed. The purpose of this is to recognize several related requests from the user and thus to maintain authentication during the visit. Preventing these cookies would lead to limited usability of the application.
8. Recipients
Staff members of the International Office of the University of Konstanz and the teaching staff of the Language Institute (German as a Foreign Language) have access to this data. Internal recipients are also those employees who need the data for their activities within the scope of fulfilling their tasks (e.g., employees in the Communication Information and Media Center for technical provision).
8. Storage duration
Die personenbezogenen Daten der betroffenen Person werden nach 6 Monaten (1 Semester) gelöscht.
9. Your rights
- In accordance with Article 15 GDPR, you have the right to request information from the University of Konstanz about any data it stores that is related to your person and/or to have incorrect data corrected as per Article 16 GDPR.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time as per Article 7 GDPR. The withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of data processing if consent had been provided before its withdrawal.
- Moreover, you also have the right to have your data deleted (Article 17 GDPR) or the processing of data limited (Article 18 GDPR).
