2023 Spring/Summer School: Imperien I und II

The event “Empires I” was held as a Spring School from 20th to 25th. March 2023 at the Univerzitet u Sarajevu and carried out jointly by teachers from Sarajevo and Konstanz with the participation of students from both institutions. The follow-up event, “Empires II: Fall of Kakania”, will take place from June 17th to 22nd of July 2023 as a Summer School at the University of Konstanz, also with the participation of teachers and students from both institutions

2022 Blended Intensive Programme: Mediterranean Connections

As the shared history of many historical and contemporary collectives, Mediterranean history can only be understood by taking into account different perspectives. Finance within the framework of an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), the workshop on Mediterranean Connections (10-14 October 2022) highlights the complexities and ambiguities of a world region that constitutes both a shared space and a boundary. It is coordinated by the department of history at the University of Konstanz (Daniel G. König) in intensive cooperation with the Aegean University (Eleni Gara), New Bulgarian University (Mariana Malinova), and Paris 8 (Alexis Drach), thus bringing together four different universities pertaining to the ERUA-network, each representing a different linguistic and academic tradition of historical studies.

2022 DAAD Summer School: Social Gaming

With our Summer School we want to bridge this research gap: Based on our common interest in playful social interactions in the context of cooperative (online) games, we propose to explore how the social, creative and at the same time productive potential in the practice of games can be theoretically grasped, cooperatively applied, and further developed in processes of co-creation (Banks 2013). By focusing on the social-cooperative potential of play, the Summer School will counteract an increasing social polarization on a scientific and intercultural level and promote empathy and alternative perspectives on a phenomenon that is often misunderstood.

The Department of Literature, Art and Media Studies at the University of Konstanz was the host for an international winter school with the topic "Zombies between (Pop-)Culture and (Visual) Politics" from 4 to 8 April 2016. Researchers from 7 universities and 6 different countries were presenting their work on Zombies, and Monsters.
