The enrolment process
Step 1: Accept your offer of admission
Please accept your offer of admission:
- via hochschulstart.de, if you received a corresponding offer of admission through the study placement process (DoSV)

How do I accept my offer of admission?
Please note the deadline listed in your letter of admission.
Step 2: Submit an online application for enrolment
Please log into your ZEuS account and click on the button "Immatrikulation beantragen" (enrolment application)
Step 3: Print out your application for enrolment
After submitting an online application for enrolment, please download your application for enrolment (PDF file) from your ZEuS account. Please print out your application and follow the instructions on the form.
Where can I download my application for enrolment?
Step 4: Pay the semester fees
Please pay the semester fees to the University of Konstanz bank account. The corresponding amount and bank information is included in your application for enrolment.
Step 5: Provide documentation of health insurance
Please inform your health insurance provider that you have enrolled at the university. Please refer to the information below in the section "Required documents: Proof of health insurance"
Exceptions:
- - You are already a student at the University of Konstanz.
- At the time you enrol, you are at least 30 years old. In this case, we do not need proof of coverage from your health insurance company.
- Citizens of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland with health insurance in their home country have to submit a copy of their current European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) (front and back).
Step 6: Submit all required documents
Please mail in or drop off your application for enrolment along with the required documents. Please do not insert the documents in plastic covers. All the dates and deadlines for submitting your documents are listed in your application for enrolment.
Step 7: Enrolment
Once you have accepted your offer of admission, we will automatically enrol you for the corresponding semester (starting 01 October or 01 April). Once you are enrolled, you will receive your student data sheet. You can also log into ZEuS to check your enrolment status ("immatrikuliert"="enrolled").
Admission for part of a programme combination ("Teilzulassung")
Do you have an offer of admission for only one part of a multi-part study programme ("Teilzulassung")?
Instructions in case of "Teilzulassung".
You can only apply for enrolment if you have an offer of admission for a combination of two subjects in your multi-part study programme. If you would like to check which other second subject you can apply for, click the button "alternative Fachkombination prüfen" (check alternative combination of subjects). You can choose either a subject without admission restrictions or another one you can be admitted to. Afterwards, you will receive information about how to enrol with the new combination of subjects.
If you have submitted the maximum number of applications already, the system will notify you of this fact when you click on the button "alternative Fachkombination prüfen" (check alternative combination of subjects). In this case, please first withdraw one of your previous applications before submitting a new alternate application.

Proof of health insurance
We can only enrol you if we have documentation that you either have statutory (German) health insurance or are exempt from the health insurance requirement. Your (German) statutory health insurance provider will send the University of Konstanz electronic notification of your coverage in the form of an "M10" notice (the university's organizational ID for this purpose is H0001026). To initiate this process, please contact your health insurance provider immediately. We do not accept paper notification from health insurance providers.
If you have private health insurance in Germany and plan to keep this coverage throughout your studies, please contact any German statutory health insurance company and have them notify the University of Konstanz that you have private health insurance (the university's organizational ID for this purpose is H0001026).
Exceptions:
- If, at the time you enrol, you are at least 30 years old, we do not need proof of coverage from your health insurance company.

Identification
For the enrolment process, you will need to provide a copy of a valid ID card or passport (an uncertified copy will do, as long as your photo, family and given names as well as your birth date are clearly visible). Please submit this copy of your ID with your application for enrolment.
Certified copy of your higher education entrance qualification
So we can check the authenticity of your higher education entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur) before enrolling you in an undergraduate programme, please submit a certified copy of your higher education entrance qualification along with your application for enrolment.
What is a certified copy?
Exmatriculation and academic records
Are you currently enrolled at another university and planning to come to the University of Konstanz either to continue your studies or start a new programme?
In order to enrol you at the University of Konstanz, we need documentation of your exmatriculation from your previous university. If you do not have this documentation yet, please submit a copy by the start of the semester (01 April or 01 October) at the latest.
Your first academic degree (e.g. for master's programme applicants)
In order to be admitted to a master's study programme, you must have passed the entire final examination in your undergraduate programme before the master's programme starts. So we can enrol you in a master's programme, please submit a certified copy of your degree certificate as well as a grade printout.
If you do not have this documentation before the deadline for accepting an offer of admission to your programme, please submit it by 01 December for the winter semester or 01 June for the summer semester to the staff member listed in your letter of admission.
If we do not receive this documentation by the deadline, we reserve the right to revoke the admission offer, unless the circumstances were beyond your control.
After your enrolment
Student data sheet
Once you have accepted your offer of admission, we will automatically enrol you for the corresponding semester (starting 01 October or 01 April). Once you are enrolled, you will receive the student data sheet. You can also log in to ZEuS to check your enrolment status ("immatrikuliert"="enrolled"). The student data sheet contains several certificates, including a personal data sheet, 4 certificates of enrolment, a certificate according to § 9 of the German BAföG law, the access information to your new university email account as well as two initial TAN numbers so you can create a TAN list in ZEuS.
Important note: We will send your student data sheet via postal mail to the address stored in ZEuS starting 16.01. (summer semester) or 16.07. (winter semester). Please make sure that you always keep your address in ZEuS up to date (e.g. after moving to Konstanz, e.g. into a residence hall). You can also download a certificate of enrolment from ZEuS. Important: To prevent any misuse, please make sure that you have received the student data sheet after you have accepted your offer of admission and submitted all the required documents. Please contact the staff member listed in your letter of admission (letterhead) if you have not received your student data sheet within three weeks of accepting your admission offer and submitting all the required documents. Once you have received your student data sheet, please handle it and the access data it contains with the utmost care!
Email account
The University of Konstanz provides every student with a free email account. We use this email address to send you important information. You have to activate your email account by changing the initial password. If you do not activate your account during the first weeks of the current semester, it will expire. As a result, you will no longer have access to important study information or to electronic services offered by the Library, IT support and ZEuS. In this case, please contact the Student Service Centre (SSZ).
UniCard
The UniCard is the University of Konstanz’s student ID card. After you have been enrolled, we will mail your UniCardto the address stored in ZEuS. Exception: If you enrol after the lecture period has already started, you will receive an email as soon as your UniCard and the corresponding student data sheet are available. On the following day, you can pick up these documents in person at the green counter of the Student Service Centre (SSZ) on level B4. You will need to bring along an official form of identification. Studi-Ticket (student tickets for public transport)
As an enrolled student, you are entitled to use Konstanz’s public transportation system at reduced rates. Take advantage of the Studi-Ticket offered by Stadtwerke Konstanz. You can find more information (in German) on prices, validity, points of sale etc. at www.stadtwerke.konstanz.de

Students who commute to the University of Konstanz from within the Verkehrsverbund Hegau-Bodensee (VHB) area can upgrade to the VHB-Studi-Ticket for the VHB network. You can find more information (in German) on the VHB-Studi-Ticket (prices, validity, points of sale etc.) online at www.vhb-info.de

The VHB-Studi-Ticket can only be used in combination with the Studi-Ticket offered by Stadtwerke Konstanz. You can purchase your tickets before the semester starts, but you can only use them once the semester has started (01 April or 01 October respectively). In order to use your tickets, please attach the semester sticker (included with your student data sheet) to the back of your UniCard student ID. This proves to public transportation ticket inspectors that you are entitled to use the Studi-Ticket / VHB-Studi-Ticket. Housing and starting your studies
Obligation to register your new home address
If you move into an apartment in Konstanz to begin your studies, you are required to register this new home address with the Konstanz Bürgerbüro (citizens services).
Important: To complete the registration process, please bring along a valid ID card and/or passport as well as a confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) from the property owner / business providing the housing.
The Konstanz Bürgerbüro (citizens services) offers time slots only for registrations for new students.
These afternoon appointments are from 14:00 to 16:00 on the following days:
Thursday, 10 October 2024
Tuesday, 15 October 2024 and
Thursday, 17 October 2024.
