Go.MINt orientation programme – Bachelor of Science
The two-semester Go.MINt programme lets you take your own individual path to earning a degree in a STEM subject. During your first year at the university, it gives you the opportunity to explore your interests, strengths and abilities while gaining study experience. Get to know the bachelor's programmes in mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry and physics at the University of Konstanz without having to pick one of them right away. You are free to choose courses in each of these STEM subjects, so you can get an impression of the requirements and contents of the relevant programmes. In addition to taking courses for study and career orientation, you will also take part in courses that build the skills you need to study successfully. As you complete Go.MINt, you decide which STEM subject you would like to continue studying at the University of Konstanz. And best of all, the work you complete in the Go.MINt programme can count towards your bachelor's degree in the STEM field you choose afterwards.

Go.MINt is a two-semester full-time programme (60 ECTS credits). You can complete it before continuing with a specific study programme in the STEM subjects mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry and physics at the University of Konstanz. It may count as part of your bachelor's programme.
The Go.MINt programme is comprised of three parts: STEM courses, competencies and qualifications, and orientation. The STEM courses consist of courses from the first and second semester of the bachelor's programmes offered at the University of Konstanz in each of the STEM subjects. You can pick which ones you would like to complete, however, you have to choose courses from at least three of the STEM subject areas, including one mathematics course. The competencies and qualifications courses help you build the skills you need to study successfully. The orientation component provides support for your individual study and career orientation.

Internship and study abroad
Internships
Internships help you to gain insights into various professional areas and to build up contacts. As part of the Go.MINt orientation process, you are required to complete a one-day work experience. The university's Go.MINt student advisors, the corresponding departments and the Career Service team can help you find a suitable placement.
We recommend doing an internship of at least 2 months during the semester break while completing your chosen study programme after Go.MINt.
Study abroad
We recommend studying abroad during the study programme you complete after Go.MINt. We offer Erasmus+ and numerous other exchange programmes.

Language skills
Foreign language skills
You do not have to document having any foreign language skills for the Go.MINt programme.
German language skills
International applicants need to submit documentation of their German language skills, level DSH-2 or TestDaF 4. Alternatively, other language tests or school certificates recognized as equivalent can be used as proof of the required German language skills. The University of Konstanz does not offer preparatory German language courses or approved German language exams. For this reason, you have to submit an accredited proof of your German language skills along with your application.

General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or equivalent.
Orientation test
The Go.MINt certificate issued after successfully completing the Go.MINt programme can be used as documentation of having completed an orientation test as per § 60. para. 2 no. 6 Landeshochschulgesetz LHG (state law on higher education) and § 4 para. 1 no. 15 Admission and Enrolment Regulations of the University of Konstanz (ZImmO). Along with your application for admission to a university in the state of Baden-Württemberg, you need to submit documentation of having completed an orientation test.

Tuition fees for first degree studies for certain international students
Since winter semester 2017/18, the state of Baden-Württemberg has required some international students to pay tuition fees for their first degree studies. The following students are not required to pay tuition fees: citizens of a country within the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), doctoral students and certain “Bildungsinländer” (e.g. non-EU citizens with a German “Abitur”). Each year, the University of Konstanz grants exemptions to a limited number of particularly gifted international degree-seeking students in accordance with the university’s “Begabtenbefreiungssatzung” (statutes governing the exemption of gifted students). An application is possible during the following period: 07.05. - 15.09. (winter semester). There may be other deadlines if you are applying for admission to a higher semester (for instance, if you are changing subjects or universities). For more information please consult the university website.

During the online application process, you will need to enter various kinds of information (school grades, attendance periods, etc.) and upload various PDF documents. Please make sure that you have the relevant documentation ready. This may include:
- Your school-leaving certificate granting you access to higher education (e.g. Abitur, A-levels etc.)
- Documentation of any volunteering you may have done (FSJ, FÖJ, etc.)
- Documentation about vocational training you may have completed
- Further documents, if applicable (medical certificate, etc.)
