The Kurt Lion Medal is conferred by the University of Konstanz on individuals among its supporters who have either donated to the university themselves or have raised funds on behalf of the university. The award is presented in memory of Kurt Lion (1922-2001), an entrepreneur and honorary senator at the University of Konstanz. Among other things, Kurt Lion was responsible for the agreement signed in 1987 on academic collaboration between the Universities of Konstanz and Tel Aviv.
