The Giesela-Bonn-Preis was instituted by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in 1996 in the memory of Prof. Dr. Gisela Bonn. Dr. Bonn was an ardent friend of India and an eminent advocate of Indo-German friendship. This is an annual award. A citation is handed over to the Awardee in Germany and a plaque is presented in New Delhi. The award is conferred to a German national who has distinctly contributed towards thedeepening of Indo-German friendship. The selection of the award is open to any subject covering political, cultural and economic aspects of Indo-German relations.
