Campaign day for keeping the direct train connection Konstanz-Stuttgart

In 2026, the railway company, Deutsche Bahn, is planning to cut an important connection linking the University of Konstanz with Stuttgart's main station.

As a result, the university would lose a direct connection to Stuttgart and its long-distance rail network. In the university city of Konstanz, this connection is key – for the region's students as well as its researchers.

The alliance "Pro Gäubahn" thus calls upon local residents to engage in a day of protest on Friday, 11 October 2024. The University of Konstanz supports the event and encourages its members to take part. Rector Katharina Holzinger: "Our international researchers and students need a direct connection to the long-distance train network – not further decoupling. A step backwards for train connections means the entire region falls behind in its development – which also negatively impacts future travel sustainability".
