Direct exchange programmes in Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia

Direct exchange programmes in Europe, Ukraine and Russia (inactive)

In addition to using the Erasmus+ programme, University of Konstanz students can participate in additional exchange programmes at mainly Eastern European universities. Please apply by 1 February to take part in an exchange starting in the following winter semester!

Please note that due to the current situation, international mobility to Russia is not possible.

"I was lucky enough to live on the campus and, as a result, take this photo. It snowed for the first time in November. My fellow students from Ireland were so excited that they ran outside to meet up for a snowball fight. They also built the snowman in front of the Campanile (bell tower) at one o'clock in the morning. Campus security noticed what was happening but let us have our fun. Direct exchange partnerships

Trinity College Dublin (Ireland)

Through our direct exchange partnership with Trinity College Dublin, three students from Konstanz can stay abroad in Ireland for a year. As a participant, you will not need to pay tuition fees at our partner university. If you stay for an entire year, you are also entitled to free accommodation in a residence hall.

Please submit your online application by 1 February to the International Office You can apply online starting 15 December. The university's SLI (Language Institute) examination will fulfil the language proficiency requirement for applying to this partner university.

Università degli studi di Udine (Italy)

Starting in the academic year 2018/2019, students from Konstanz can apply to take part in a semester-long direct exchange programme with the Università degli studi di Udine. Participants will not have to pay tuition fees and will receive a monthly scholarship.

Requirements:

- students in the Italian studies and German language and literature programmes have priority
- you can usually apply starting in the third semester (bachelor’s and bachelor of education students).

Application:

Please submit your online application by 1 February to the International Office You can apply online starting 15 December. To fulfil the language proficiency requirement for applying to this partner university, you can take the university's SLI (Language Institute) examination or present a certificate of your current language proficiency level within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Taras Schewtschenko University, Kiev (Ukraine)

Founded in 1834, Taras Schewtschenko University Kiev is one of Ukraine's most renowned universities. Approximately 26,000 students study at this partner university of almost 25 years. The university is well-connected and offers several double degree programmes as well as transnational research projects. The university provides excellent advice and assistance to Konstanz-based students. (Please contact: Dr Katja Kobchenko).

Requirements:
- the programme is open to all departments but is especially recommended for students in the history, Eastern European history, sociology, Slavic studies and politics programmes.
- you can usually apply starting in the third semester.

Organisational information:
Courses are mainly taught in Ukrainian but also in Russian and English. International students can select from a wide range of language courses.

The university's main buildings are located in the city centre while individual institutes are located throughout the city. International students stay in the university's own residence halls and guest houses near the main university buildings. As part of our partnership agreement, you will be offered a room in a residence hall free of charge.

The academic year is divided into one winter semester (September-January) and a summer semester (February-May). Summer vacation runs from June through August.

Please submit your online application to the International Office. The application deadline is 01 February for the following winter semester. Stays during the summer semester are also possible through the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme. The application deadline is at the beginning of November. Please submit the following documents: a letter of motivation, your CV, an overview of your grades (transcript), a letter of reference from a university lecturer. You are not required to provide documentation of language proficiency to apply to this partner university. It is to your advantage, however, to have good Russian and/or English language skills.

If you stay for more than three months, you are required to have a visa. We would be glad to assist you in applying for one.

Finances:
Your stay in Kiev can be funded by a DAAD/Go East scholarship or an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, grant.

Plechanov University of Economics Moscow (Russia, inactive)

The Plechanov University of Economics Moscow (Russia) is the country's largest economics university with about 13,000 students. It has been one of our partner universities for 15 years. As part of our partnership agreement, you will be offered a room in a residence hall at a very affordable rate (approx. 30-40 rubles per month). The university also provides a very helpful buddy system (for picking you up from the airport, etc.)

Moscow University for the Humanities, Moscow (Russia, inactive)

The Moscow University for the Humanities (RGGU) is centrally located in Moscow and one of the best known humanities universities in Germany. It has been our partner university for over 25 years. The RGGU has well-stocked libraries and archives. The university also provides excellent advice and assistance to Konstanz-based students. (Please contact: Irina Baskakova). Herzen State Pedagogical University St. Petersburg (Russia, inactive)

Founded in 1797, Herzen University in St. Petersburg is one of Russia's oldest pedagogical universities. The university focusses on "Russian as a foreign language", teacher education and didactics. Especially students studying teacher education and Slavic studies can benefit from a stay here. Both the campus and residence halls are centrally located. Students from Konstanz are provided free housing.

University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Through the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, exchange placements at the University of Sarajevo are available for students at the Department of Literature, Art and Media Studies.

University of Prishtina (Kosovo)

Through the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, study placements at the University of Prishtina are available for students in our Department of Biology.

Application deadlines: 1 February for stays in the following winter semester, 1 November for stays in the following summer semester.
