Graduate Program Overview
The Graduiertenkolleg (PhD Program) aims at continuing international
cooperation and education for individuals currently engaged in science,
technology and engineering-related fields. It provides young researchers
in these fields with an opportunity to conduct innovative research and
to pursue a doctorate in Computer and Information Science. Graduates
will work in coordinated research programs together with a distinguished
faculty and in collaboration with renowned associated institutions.
The central topic in the graduate program is Explorative Analysis and Visualization of Large Information Spaces. This area corresponds to the research interests and specialization of the faculty in the Computer and Information Science Department. The program offers a wide range of courses in computer and information science, and seeks to complement the specializations of the individual graduate student. Both the theoretical and applied aspects of computer and information science are emphasized in the program.
The program is supported and funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The mission of the DFG is to further advancement and education of young researchers within the framework of an international cooperation between universities and scientists worldwide. The Graduiertenkolleg (PhD Program) was established and is staffed by renowned scholars and experts in their field, who blend current research with traditional and topical knowledge. At this time the faculty consists of ten tenured professors.
