1. Computational topology of implicit surfaces
date | September 27, 2006 |
abstract | The lecture introduces Morse theory, shows how it can be used to detect topology changes in implicit surfaces and how to update e.g. a polygonization, and concludes with some more recent work on the topology of silhouettes. |
2. Computational topology of meshes
date | September 29, 2006 |
abstract | The lecture describes Banchoff's extension of Morse theory onto triangulated manifolds and strategies for discretizing surface flows on a mesh, with applications including Morse Fairing and Spectral Surface Quadrangulation and if there's time other non-Morse methods for mesh topology interrogation and processing. |
