The start date is February 1st, 2024 or upon agreement. The position is available for two years.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

The postdoctoral position is situated at the Chair of Public Administration at the intersection of public policy and public administration (see https://www.polver.uni-konstanz.de/en/thomann/team/ ). The successful candidate will join our team in the multi-method research project “Equal access to equal rights? Tackling street-level discrimination against mobile EU citizens across four national administrative contexts (EU-SOCIETY)”, a collaboration of Eva Thomann (University of Konstanz), Anita Manatschal (University of Neuchatel), and Christian Adam (Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen) which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the German Research Foundation. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate on the design, implementation, and analysis of qualitative vignette-based interviews with welfare workers in Switzerland and Spain. The goal of these interviews is to understand welfare decision processes, the administrative contexts in practice, and causal mechanisms underlying the effects of different anti-discrimination measures. Next to the project work, the postdoctoral researcher is encouraged to pursue their independent publication projects.
