bwFDM goes Potsdam

From 21 to 22 February 2024, four representatives of the federal state initiative bwFDM spent exciting days at the RDA DE conference. As a satellite event, the project team also organised a meeting of the RDM initiatives on the topic of "International exchange and outreach".

One focus of the conference was on current academic policy developments relating to research data management on a global, European, national, state-wide and local levels. On our poster, which has now also been published on Zenodo, we presented the state initiative, particularly with regard to its networking and interaction with other RDM stakeholders in Baden-Württemberg and beyond. We particularly enjoyed the lively exchange during the poster session and being able to present the state initiative bwFDM in a new look and with a new logo for the first time.

Thanks to the support of some local colleagues, we were able to organise a hybrid FDM initiative meeting in the afternoon of the conference’s second daye in the Hasselmann Hall at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Around 30 participants shared their experiences of international exchange and outreach. The representatives of various RDM initiatives (including DINI/nestor AG Forschungsdaten, NFDI consortia, Helmholtz Open Science Office and the RDM federal state initiatives) discussed ways in which we can communicate the RDM landscape in Germany and the associated diverse activities across national borders and, thus, initiate an international exchange. Strategies were also discussed on how a joint involvement of the German RDM initiatives at events could unlock untapped potential to raise awareness of our activities and services.
