Thomas Böttcher (Research Group Leader, Department of Chemistry, University of Konstanz, Research Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg, Konstanz, Germany) presented "Crossing the Borders of Chemistry and Biology for targeting the Corona Virus Proteases":
The new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is a global burden for public health. In this lecture I will give an introduction into the biochemistry of the virus and highlight currently ongoing research in our laboratory aiming to target the proteases of SARS-CoV-2. We will explore how the field of chemical biology can contribute to the functional understanding of SARS-CoV-2 and aid the development of potential drugs.
The European Netias lecture was held online on Zoom.
