Valeria Vegh Weis new member of the Connecticut/Baden-Württemberg Human Rights Research Consortium
We congratulate Valeria Vegh Weis (Research Fellow / Law) who was accepted as a member of the working group "Human Rights and International Relations" coordinated by Prof. Dr. Achilles Skordas from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.
There are five thematic working groups in the Connecticut/Baden-Württemberg Human Rights Research Consortium, composed of an approximately equal number of participants from Connecticut and Baden-Württemberg. The foci of the five groups are key human rights issues of our time.
“As a group, we will host different events”, she explains. “In April, there will be a big meeting of all the members of the Consortium from Germany and the USA in Heidelberg. The goal of the Consortium is to have a dialogue and exchange between scholars on human rights issues, work on policy ideas and disseminate human rights scholarship. The working group "Human Rights and International Relations" in particular works, as it can be read in the website, on "the backlash against human rights and international courts; business and human rights; critical theory of human rights, including Marxist approaches; systems-theoretical analysis of human rights; regional human rights approaches, including in particular in Latin America and Africa; history of human rights and of human rights organizations (e.g., Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch); geopolitics and human rights; and human rights and European integration.”
The group plans to host events related to these themes and build on the Human Rights Discussion sub-group at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg.
