Abstract:
From synchronising our circadian rhythms to the external light-dark cycle to controlling ocular growth, light has a profound impact on human physiology and behavior. Some of these effects are mediated by a set of cells that were only discovered in the late 1990s – the so-called intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells. The Group “Light and human health” funded by the Constructive Advanced Thinking (CAT) programme from the Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NETIAS), brings together diverse interdisciplinary perspectives. In this talk, the group will present recent highlights from their work.
