About the workshop:

As scientists, there are many opportunities to communicate our research interests to a lay audience. This requires a concise, clear and interesting ‘pitch’, that can be delivered in a short time.  Yet, we rarely practice to do this and often discuss our research mainly with our peers.

In this course, you will learn to present your own research findings or PhD topic in an understandable and compelling way in just three minutes.

This Workshop gives a comprehensive introduction to the art of pitching and storytelling. We will first look at what makes a successful pitch and how to engage your audience from the start. You will then learn how to clearly structure your message and tell stories that will engage your audience.

The heart of this Workshop is the conception and practice of your own pitch. You will work to get to the heart of your complex research findings or PhD topic and make it understandable.

You will first practice in groups and receive valuable feedback, which will help you improve your presentation skills and get your pitch on point.

Upon completion of this pitch training, you will be able to present complex scientific content in a clear, concise, and compelling manner. Whether you are in front of a professional audience, potential funders, or the general public, you will be able to engage your audience and convince them of the relevance of your work.
