This year's Manfred Ulmer Fellowship was awarded to ZUKOnnect Fellow Elisa María Sol Porcel during the Dies Academicus at the University of Konstanz on 4 July.

The Zukunftskolleg has launched its second call for ZENiT Fellowships.

Congratulations to James Wilson (Postdoctoral Fellow / History and Sociology) who is one of the winners of the 2024 Messmer Foundation Research Award conferred by the “Werner and Erika Messmer Foundation”.

We cordially welcome our new ZUKOnnect Fellows who joined the Zukunftskolleg on 1 July 2024 virtually for one year. They will be on-campus for 3 to 4 months in autumn 2024. Our new members (from left to right) are:

Julia Ditter is one of our new Postdoctoral Fellows from the 18th call for applications for 2-year Fellowships. She has started her fellowship in June and is affiliated with the Department of Literature.

We congratulate Gisela Kopp (Research Fellow / Biology) – also member of the Center for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior at the University of Konstanz - who was appointed as a member of the University Council of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.

Henrique Almeida de Castro is one of our new Postdoctoral Fellows from the 18th call for applications for 2-year Fellowships. He has started his fellowship in May and is affiliated with the Department of History and Sociology as well as the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality".

Angelo Neira is one of our new Postdoctoral Fellows from the 18th call for applications for 2-year Fellowships. He has started his fellowship in May and is affiliated with the Department of Computer and Information Science.

Congratulations to Postdoctoral Fellow Daniela Rößler who received an Emmy Noether Grant by the German Research Foundation.

Jonas Kuckling is one of our new ZENiT Research Fellows from the 1st call for applications for ZENiT Fellowships. He has started his fellowship in April and is affiliated with the Department of Computer and Information Science as well as the Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour.

Together with her team, Elisa Deiss-Helbig, political scientist at the Zukunftskolleg, has set up the VOTO voting advice application, a digital tool to support voters making informed voting decisions.

Tobias Tober is one of our new ZENiT Research Fellows from the 1st call for applications for ZENiT Fellowships. He has started his fellowship in March and is affiliated with the Department of Politics and Public Administration as well as the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality”.

Yitzchak Ben Mocha is one of our new ZENiT Research Fellows from the 1st call for applications for ZENiT Fellowships. He has started his fellowship in March and is affiliated with the Department of Biology as well as the Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour.

Congratulations to Research Fellow Gruia Badescu (History and Sociology): His application for a FIAS fellowship at the Paris Institute for Advanced Study has been selected for the 2024-2025 cohort.

Alexandra Windsberger is one of our new ZENiT Research Fellows from the 1st call for applications for ZENiT Fellowships. She has started her fellowship on 1 April and is affiliated with the Department of Law.

The Zukunftskolleg has just opened a new call for applications for Early Career Researchers who are currently fellow at one of its partner institutes and would be interested to visit the Zukunftskolleg Konstanz/Germany for a short research visit (4-12 weeks) in 2024.

We congratulate Julia Boll who accepted a Substitute Professorship in British and Anglophone Literature and Culture at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the summer semester 2024.

We congratulate Senior Fellow Irene Heim who was awarded the Rolf Schock Prize in Logic and Philosophy.

Nadir Weber (Alumnus / History and Sociology) has been appointed as Associate Professor of Premodern Swiss History at the University of Bern, Switzerland.

Hari Sridhar (independent researcher and fellow at the Konrad Lorenz Institute (Austria) / Writer in Residence at the ZuKo, invited by Gisela Kopp), has launched his website "Reflections on Papers Past". The project was funded by the Zukunftkolleg.

Together with our sister institutes in Europe organized within the network of Institutes for Advanced Studies (NetIAS), we launched the 2023 call for proposals for research groups – Constructive Advanced Thinking – in short CAT. Now, the winner CAT groups were selected.

We congratulate Jolle Jolles (Alumnus / Dept. of Biology) who has just started a permanent (senior) researcher position at the “Blanes Centre for Advanced Studies” (CEAB) in Blanes, Spain.

The latest call for applications for ZUKOnnect Fellowships has closed (application deadline was on 15 February 2024). We have received 164 applications in total, of which - after a formal eligibility check - 74 are eligible (27 female, 1 other).

We congratulate Sasha Kosanic (Alumna / Dept. of Biology) who has accepted a position as Senior Lecturer in Climate Change Ecology at Liverpool John Moores University, UK, at the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences.

The Zukunftskolleg received 12 applications within the first call for applications for the new ZENiT Fellowship Programme (application deadline: 15 December 2023). ZENiT stands for Zukunftskolleg Exchange Network: interdisciplinary Talent.

We congratulate Alumnus Karsten Lambers: In January 2024, he was appointed as Professor of Digital and Computational Archaeology at the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Leiden, Netherlands.

The Zukunftskolleg has just closed its 18th call for applications for 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowships (the closing date for applications was 10 October 2023).

Thanks to Hendrik Rommeswinkel from our partner institute WIAS in Tokyo who spent a Research Visit at the Zukunftskolleg from November 2023 until January 2024.
