We welcome ZENiT Research Fellow Jonas Kuckling to the Zukunftskolleg

Jonas Kuckling is one of our new ZENiT Research Fellows from the 1st call for applications for ZENiT Fellowships. He has started his fellowship in April and is affiliated with the Department of Computer and Information Science as well as the Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour.

Jonas Kuckling obtained his doctoral degree in April 2023 from the Artificial Intelligence research laboratory (IRIDIA) of the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium. Since April 2023, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Konstanz.

In his research project at the Zukunftskolleg, he wants to bring together an interdisciplinary team of experts to provide new impulses to open-endedness in embodied collectives. “The research topic falls within the domain of artificial life, an interdisciplinary research area that combines, among other domains, topics from biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, philosophy, and art”, explains Jonas Kuckling. “My partners are coming from different domains, such as complex systems, artificial life, artificial intelligence, and robotics. I hope to contribute to several challenges in open-endedness in embodied collectives through this project.”

We wish him all the best for his project and for his time at the Zukunftskolleg!
